Louisiana Movie Poster Museum
Welcome to the the Louisiana Movie Poster Virtual Museum. Since 1895 more than 3,000 movies have been made in or about Louisiana. These posters advertised a few of them. We have hundreds to add, so check back with us as we grow.
Ed and Susan Poole, renowned movie poster experts and authorities on Louisiana film history, curated this initial exhibit. It is based on the Backdrop Louisiana! exhibit that premiered in Slidell, Louisiana in January, 2020 and we’re looking forward to a post-pandemic tour. A smidgen of their knowledge can be found at Learn About Movie Posters, known worldwide as LAMP. Visit Hollywood on the Bayou for a deeper dive into Louisiana film history.
This museum is funded in part by grants from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation and the New Orleans Entertainment Coalition.

Naughty New Orleans
In 1955, local production company Rebel Productions, Inc. released their adult film Naughty New Orleans. According to the press materials, the film is a riot of revelry, romance and roaring laughter seen mid historical hot spots in the City That Care Forgot - NEW ORLEANS.
The working titles of this film were Keyhole Peeks of Naughty New Orleans and A Night in New Orleans. Onscreen credits read: "Photographed in New Orleans by Tom Branigan and Francois Audibert," and "filmed in gorgeous Eastman Color."
The film opened with an offscreen narrator giving a brief history of New Orleans and describing the city's unique "flavor." The narrator then focuses on the French Quarter.
The pressbook contains the following story synopsis:
Naughty New Orleans opens with strains of the low down jazz for which the town is famous playing in the background, while the camera examines and commentator describes the historical scenes and backgrounds redolent of a past that is entwined in world affairs over centuries, and brings us up to date on the present activities in the Vieux Carre (French Quarter) where we enter the apartment of Julianne, an entertainer in a Night Club on Bourbon Street.
She receives a telegram informing her that her boyfriend, who is unaware of her profession, is arriving in town. Instead of telling him the truth, she allows him to wander the city where he uncovers the truth.
The film was directed by Sidney Baldwin, and features actual performers in the famous French Quarter clubs: Stormy, Julianne, Allouette, Shiela Lane, Rita Parker, Collette, Pork Chops & Kidney Stew, Pat Patrick, Gilbert Frye, Jack Brooks, Karla Treme, Montmarte Kitty and the Can Can Chorus plus actual patrons of the Moulin Rouge Club.
